This course is designed for those who are required to operate a slewing mobile crane (up to 20 tonnes) as part of their role.
This course is delivered by experienced trainers and assessed by SafeWork NSW approved assessors.
This course applies to the activities of a person operating slewing mobile crane with a capacity up to 20 tonnes including a non-slewing mobile crane with a capacity exceeding 3 tonne, a reach stacker, a slewing mobile crane with a capacity of 20 tonnes or less and a vehicle loading crane with a capacity of 10 metre tonnes or more, excluding the application of load estimation and slinging techniques to move a load.
Before conducting any activities with the slewing mobile crane such as lifting and shifting loads. In general, a person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) must ensure that people engaged in shifting loads with a slewing mobile crane up to 20 tonnes capacity has received sufficient training, instruction and information to correctly follow the specific procedures without exercising judgement.
The class of work is operator of a slewing mobile crane with a capacity up to 20 tonnes. This licence also encompasses authority for the operation of:
– non-slewing mobile crane – CN
– vehicle loading crane – CV
The total duration for this course is 40 hours (5 days) as follows for both skilled and non-skilled operators.
The course duration is 40 hours (including 34 hours of training):
– 16 hours of supervised theory instruction
– 18 hours of supervised practical instruction (simulated workplace)
– 4 hours theory assessment (including calculations)
– 2 hours of practical assessment
This course is based on the High Risk Work (HRW) licence requirements.
